A new 7” vinyl series called the Fug Yep Soundation has launched in memory of the late Richard Swift. The series aims to raise awareness for addiction and “bring community to those suffering” by donating to musician-focused organizations MusiCares and Music Support UK. The series will also directly support Swift’s family. Fug Yep’s first release is the 7” vinyl of Lucius’ “Christmas Time is Here/Keep Me Hanging On,” which Swift produced, recorded, and mixed. He also did all the artwork. Out December 7, it’s available for preorder now. Listen to “Christmas Time is Here” below.

The Black Keys Dan Auerbach, the Shins’ James Mercer, Damien Jurado, Pure Bathing Culture, Fruit Bats, and others are also participating in the Fug Yep Soundation.

Richard Swift passed away on July 3 due to complications from his struggle with alcohol addiction. He sought treatment throughout the last few years of his life. Read “Why Richard Swift Was an Indie Rock Treasure” on the Pitch.
